Do You Remember!

Do you remember Alsalam Hotel that was in Shuwaikh ! where you can see the ministry of Oil now.

it was something unique and the rarity of the scene made it one of the things you should see when you visit Kuwait in the past, but after the Iraqi invasion to Kuwait in 1990. the hotel was burned and it was hard to restore it due to the high cost.

few facts :

• The ship was built in 1958.
• It was cruising between Greece islands.
• The ship was sent to retirement in 1973 because of the power crisis.
• Marriott and some Kuwaiti investors bought it for 4 Million Dollars in 1978.
• 183 rooms, two gyms, Olympic swimming pool and a first class restaurant.
• It was open to public in Nov. 11th 1979.
